Original Residents

So give or take, most fans have come to the conclusion that the town of Silent Hill ( is located in the state of Maine. Now I'm doing research about what Native American tribes lived/live in the state. I am curious as to what had powered the land, how it became special, when it was taken, what were the ceremonies? Definitely need the Native American perspective of Silent Hill. Of what it was and what it came to be and how.

So based on the information of this site : http://www.native-languages.org/maine.htm

Original inhabitants of the area that is (now) Maine included:
The Maliseet , The Passamaquoddy, The Abenaki, and The Penobscot.

Other Indian tribes who migrated into Ohio after Europeans arrived included:
*The Micmac tribe

The traditional Micmac territory is north and east of Maine, in what is now Canada. In the 1700's, the Micmac, Maliseet, Passamaquoddy, Abenaki, and Penobscot people joined together into an alliance known as the Wabanaki Confederacy, and after that, some Micmac people settled in Maine as well. Their descendants still live in Maine today.

Lost Memories

The name comes from the legend
of the people whose land was
stolen from them.

They called this place "The Place
of the Silent Spirits." By "Spirits,"
they meant not only their dead
relatives, but also the spirits that
they believed inhabited the trees,
rocks and water around them.

According to legend, this was
where the holiest ceremonies
took place.

But it was not the ancestors of
those who now live in this town
that first stole the land from these
people. There were others who
came before.

In those days, this town went by
another name. But that name is
now hopelessly lost in the veils
of times.

All we know is that there was
another name, and that for some
reason the town was once
abandoned by its residents.
